Conservative blogger Michelle Malkin received a comment that called for the "torture, rape, murder" of her family.

One technology blogger says the nastiness of some online discourse serves as a "disincentive" for women to participate in these communities.

And a recent study says participation is down because of female participants' increased "sensitivity to worrisome behavior in chat rooms." Regardless of your gender, has harassment kept you from participating in USA TODAY's online community?
