Dolphins draft Ginn, not Quinn (blogging news)

... As Cameron walked up to the podium to address the team’s draft day party crowd, those who hadn’t already stormed out greeted their new head coach with a chorus of boos and even a few chants of “Brady!

Brady!

” “Let me tell you about the young man we just drafted .¤.¤.” Cameron said in between boos.

“We drafted the Ginn family.

I’ve known this family for over 10 years.

I’ve watched this young man for a long time.

You’re going to be thrilled every time you watch this young man as a punt returner, because he’s going to be a great returner for us.” Drafting a punt returner with the No.

9 pick when a potential franchise quarterback was sitting there waiting to be taken isn’t likely to go over well with Dolphins fans … unless there is somebody else in the Ginn family who can play quarterback.

Cameron did not take questions, but promised Dolphins fans the team would be happy with the rest of the draft.

“You’re going to see a tremendous draft class put together, and it’s a draft class that’s going to make you proud,” Cameron said.

By not selecting Quinn, the Dolphins quarterback situation has been left up in the air .¤.¤.

again.

The team is still trying to work a deal for Kansas City’s Trent Green, but he will be 37 by the time the seasons starts.

Miami has not drafted a quarterback in the first round since it took Dan Marino in 1983.

In Ginn Jr., the Dolphins got a wide receiver/return man with blazing speed, but who ...

Premiere Day: This Is It (blogging news)

...Tonight is going to be the first time I'll see the film with a real audience.

I had been fine all week until today.

Right now, I am nervous as hell.

Up until now, the prep, the shoot, all the editing, the music, the entire creation of this film has been a theoretical exercise in how to make a good movie.

Tonight will be the real litmus test.

Even more stressful is that fact that many of the cast and crew will be seeing it for the first time; I just hope to God they like it.

They all worked so hard on the film and it would be so sad to disappoint them.

When I premiered my first film The Motel at Sundance, I had this same knot in my stomach.

In fact, I had been so stressed out about it that I ended up passing out at our post-premiere party.

That was the first time since high school that I had just simply blacked out and fell flat on my back mid-conversation with someone.

They should make medic alert bracelets that say "filmmaker" on the back.

Just moments before passing out and being carried out of the bar in Utah by my actor Sung Kang, I met Teddy Zee for the first time.

Little did I know that we would be working together on West 32nd and premiering it at Tribeca and now he'll have to be the one to carry me out.

The big highlight of the past week has been getting to hang with the cast and crew again.

We threw our launch party last night and it was as the kids say "off da hook." We had a line down the block and the place was packed till the very end...

Coachella: Golf is Cool (blogging news)

...Anyhow, everyone has been really friendly and happy to be here, myself included.

I just wish everything wasn’t so expensive!

We watched a few Peaches songs.

She was joined on stage by Le Tigre’s JD and they all were wearing masks and being raunchy.

It was great.

The crowd was pumped, and so were we.

But we couldn’t miss Jesus and Mary Chain whose sound was overpowering Peaches.

(Main stage is just so much louder!

) So we meandered over and the sun had set, and the feeling of the festival was getting more and more debaucherous, dirty and wild.

Fire breathers and jugglers were around; there is a bit of a Burning Man/Ren Fair vibe in certain areas, but generally it’s about the bands.

JAMC are still playing, no Scarlett yet but they sound wonderful.

I must get back to it.

12:24 a.m.

I’m in bed writing this.

Totally exhausted.

Bjork was transcendent.

I was beginning to think it was impossible for me to truly appreciate music in a festival setting, but then I forced my way up close to Bjork and had the time of my life.

Granted, we left halfway through her set to beat the traffic after our experiences earlier, but she was a mighty force.

A definite headliner.

Loved every note of it.

Interpol was also amazing.

I’m truly excited for their new album.

We saw Vincent Gallo, Britney Spears’ younger sister, some actress from Heroes, heard about spottings of Ca...
